DOMINICA AWAITS BOUNTY KILLER

Alliance leader Bounty Killer is now enroute to the island of Dominica where he is epected to headline the Pre-Independence concert dubbed "Creole In The Park" at the Botanic Gardens. The four (4) day concert which started on Monday, Oct 23 will feature the Dancehall General on Thursday, Oct 27 (tomorrow). Dominican fans will be in for a treat as Bounty Killer will introduce for the first time on any overseas soil one of his newest recruits from the ANG camp, sing-jay Patexx. Patexx who rose to fame with the hit single SUMMER TIME ft. Bounty Killer & Busta Rhymes has been making steady progress throughout his career and is certain to ignite the crowd and make a mark for himself.

Grammy winning producer Austin 'Payday' Green, Jazzwad and newly recording artiste Big Wayne is also apart of the Dominica entourage. Bounty Killer and his team are expected to return home by this weekend. With the festive season in sight Bounty Killer is expected to have busy schedule doing both local and overseas performances.

Ajrenalin & Wayne Marshall "Who we be"

Riding high after his successful performance at Jamaica Reggae Sumfest, Ajrenalin has collaborated with veteran artist Wayne Marshall with their latest release dubbed 'Who we be'. This is definitely  one of those cross- over hits showing Ajrenalins versatility and strive for creativeness .

I Practice Safe Sex Campaign

“I Practice Safe Sex” is a nonprofit organization that was created to serve as a voice for STD’s.  STD’s and Safe Sex is still a touchy topic in most communities, households and colleges, but especially in the social party scenes marriages and long term relationships. I Practice Safe Sex is here to provide knowledge on practicing safe sex no matter what situation you may be in and still enjoy the pleasure of sexual relations.  Instead of giving long lectures of abstinence and why safe sex is important; we plan to ask one question “I Practice Safe Sex Do You?” 

Most can say to practice abstinence, be faithful in your relationship/marriage or treasure you’re most valuable treasures.  However, reality is during the most heated moments all the things you should or would do becomes unheard of.  It’s time to stop preaching on what’s right and time to preach about “doing you safely.”  To do this the campaign will form partnerships with local Night Clubs, Social Venues, Adult Entertainment Venue Colleges and Community Events to pass out items that leads to protection. 

“I Practice Safe Sex” is a campaign that is in direct response to the ones curious to take the next step, the massive number of people looking for fun or to be plain and simple looking for sex. The goal of the campaign is to make sure these people listen to their sub-conscious and wrap it up. So whether it’s taking a snap shot, passing out condoms or t-shirts in the local Night Clubs, Social Venues, Colleges and Community Events will do nothing but send one simple message, “I Practice Safe Sex Do You?”

MDTV Teen Empowerment Session

 JAMAICAN BARBEE/DELUS/SKY NICOLE GREY/BLACK BARBIE

The Jamaican Beauty Barbee, eye candy Delus and the Amazing Sky Nicole Grey were all celebrities that took part in the recently held MDTV Empowerment Session for the Miss Jamaica Caribbean Talented Teens contestants. The event was hosted by Black Barbie from New York City (Parti Fm) on Thursday August 4, 2011 at 4pm on the University of Technology grounds.
The Contestants were surprised after thinking that
they were only about to have a regular day of rehearsals. MDTV organizer Talisa Taylor started off by greeting the ladies and introducing Black Barbie who kicked the session off. The Beautiful Jamaican Barbee was first up and was greeted greatly by the ladies; she was the highlight of the evening. She spoke of self confidence and how important it is that the ladies stay determined all through. The ladies listened keenly and were amazed by everything she said. She was also the ideal person to give the ladies beauty tips and tips as to what to do before going on stage. After her speech the ladies rushed Barbee once again for countless pictures and autographs it was clear that the ladies were big fans. Barbee left with the ladies saying “Everything Pretty”.

Delus on the other hand was the eye candy for the evening. The ladies did pay extra attention as he spoke. He advised the ladies to keep their heads up high and to remain confident on stage no matter what happens. Delus also made a statement when he participated in the runway walk game where the ladies screamed when he gave him manly stroll. Sky Nicole Grey the Pulse Model and now recording artiste spoke on beauty being inside out and also gave the ladies several beatiful tips. Sky advised the ladies that less is more and that confidence is key. Several ladies had questions lined up to ask her and she was quite happy to indulge in these girlie talks.

The MC, Black Barbie shared how excited she was at the fact that she is here in Jamaica to share in this activity with MDTV. She was a great MC and gave encouraging words to the contestants.  She warned the ladies to keep focused and to work hard to achieve their goals. Talisa Taylor, the assistant Programme Manager of MDTV who worked alongside Chantol Carnegie (known as “Tinkerbell”) and Alician Roxborough shared that: “I am very happy that these entertainment personalities took time out of their busy schedule to participate in this positive venture. It is important that these individuals continue to aid in youth development and growth”. MDTV is on Flow channel 393 and streams online at www.mdtvmedia.com. Jah Cure finds "True Love"

In a recent interview with Jamaica's CVM television, Reggae singer Jah Cure confirmed that he will tie the knot with fiance Kamaila Mcdonald. Sources say, the beautiful couple have been dating over two years and was ready to make a commiment. This Sunday, August 7, Jah Cure born Siccature Alcock will tie the knot with media personality and fitness trainer/sports nutritionist Kamila McDonald at an afternoon wedding scheduled to take place in the city of Montego Bay in St. James.

Guests at the wedding will have the opportunity to hear a song that he planned specifically for this royal occasion, which has never been played or performed anywhere before. In addition, Jah Cure will be releasing his new album "World Cry" this month along with touring Africa, which he is really excited for.

Mavado arrested and charged

Dancehall artist Mavado was arrested and charged by the St James police yesterday for assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property. Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, turned himself in to police Wednesday after he was named as a person of interest when a man complained that he and his teenage son were physically assaulted by the artiste and members of his entourage. Police report that about 7:00 pm on Friday, Mavado assaulted the man and damaged his Toyota Camry motor vehicle along the Belmont main road in the parish. The complainant allegedly stopped along the main road to allow a line of traffic to pass when he and his son were attacked by Brooks and members of his entourage. The complainant sustained injuries to his back, leg and forehead, while his son reportedly lost several of his teeth after being hit in the mouth with a machete. Another man, who attempted to bribe the complainant yesterday, was also taken into custody by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch and is to be charged with perverting the course of justice. The man is said to have tried to pay the complainant $500,000 to drop the case against the artiste. Brooks is to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on August 8.

Montego Bay Jerk Festival brings the heat!

The Gleaner-sponsored MoBay Jerk Festival is slated to stimulate the entertainment appetites of patrons in western Jamaica, with the help of Chris Martin and the newly crowned Magnum King Hurricane at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, come Monday, August 1.

The 'Paper Loving' reggae sensation will headline the festival, something the event organiser is pleased about. "This is our second staging of MoBay Jerk Festival, and last year, we had I-Octane, and that was amazing. So this year we wanted to have Chris Martin because Montego Bay loves him and we are grateful for the opportunity to have him as part of the line-up," Kim Lindo said. She further added that with the immense popularity of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall contestants, they had to include this year's winner, Hurricane, and finalists Specialist and Yabalisious, along with the popular Tanto Blacks to enhance the mix of new and experienced talents on the stage. "We want to be able to provide a platform for upcoming musicians to showcase their talents and show their range. This is a family event which will help them to tailor the craft accordingly, while entertaining their fans. Specialist has a new single out, so does Tanto Blacks and Hurricane, so it will be interesting for patrons to see what they have in store for them," the enthused event organiser stated.

Operating under the theme 'Bring Back the Culture', the MoBay Jerk Festival will see elements of cultural traditions such as Jonkonno, drumming and dances that are reminiscent of 'old time Jamaica'. The day and night family event will also see fast-raising dancehall star T'Nez performing, in addition to Nazine and gospel artistes Omari and Jabez. Montego Bay's own Quata Blann is set to make an appearance at the event. Dancing Dynamites' Target Dancers are also booked to appear at the festival. With family events few in Montego Bay for the summer, the organisers of MoBay Jerk Festival wanted to fill that void and, as such, Lindo outlined that "Tickets are $500 for adults and $200 for children, available at all Digicel stores in Montego Bay. We made the event affordable so that persons can come out and enjoy a nice Emancipation Day culinary and entertainment event that is not taxing on their pockets."

THE LATEST NEWS ON REGGAE ICON BUJU BANTON SENTENCE

Earlier today, Jamaican reggae superstar, Buju Banton, 38, has been sentenced to 10 years, followed by five years of probation, in the Florida District Court in the United States this morning. Tampa, FL. (AP) - A federal judge sentenced Grammy-winning reggae Buju Banton to 10 years in prison Thursday, the lowest sentence legally allowed for his role in a large cocaine trafficking deal in 2009. 


The 38-year-old Jamaican recording artist got a break when U.S. District Judge James S. Moody threw out a gun conviction, which would have added another five years to the minimum sentence. Banton's attorney, David Markus, said with time already served and good behavior, he could be out in six years. Family and supporters please continue to pray for Buju.

Shaggy to host Vibe International Music Festival & Lifestyle Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica

International recoding artiste Shaggy will be the host and ambassador of the Vibe International Music Festival and The Lifestyle Conference, which is scheduled from May 25 to 30, 2011 in Montego Bay, St. James. The event will be chaired by hip-hop pioneer and mogul Russell Simmons and will be presented by the Peter Thomas Entertainment Group (PTEG), whose CEO is Peter Thomas – a renowned entrepreneur and owner of the Uptown Restaurant and Lounge in Atlanta.

Nefatari Rocks Twin Of Twins Album Launch and Shoots New Video

Soulful upcoming singer Nefatari continues to show growth in her career, most notably in her recent performance at the ‘Stir It Up Volume 9’ album release party for comedic dancehall duo Twin of Twins. The event held Top Chef in Fort Lauderdale, Florida saw the young singer delivering a short but entertaining set with singles including; ‘Be Your Baby’ and the newly released  ‘Day You Mess Up’ the latter on the Pedal rhythm produced by Echo One Productions.

Prior to album release the New York born singer of Jamaica parentage made her presence felt at the South Florida (SoFlo) Dancehall & Reggae Music Awards held at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Theatre in Hollywood, Florida performing alongside fellow Jamaican acts: Voicemail, Kiprich, Macka Diamond, Chevaughn among others.

Part proceeds from the event were donated to popular dancer Mundo of the Ding Dong led Ravers Clavers outfit to assist with his ongoing medical expenses.

Meanwhile, Nefatari currently in Florida recording with accomplished producers Jon FX and Crash Dummies is gearing up to premier her new video for ‘They Don’t Know’, shot and directed by the award winning Christopher ‘Icey Jace’ Campbell. The video features several surprise cameos from a number of A-List local entertainers.

30^th INTERNATIONAL REGGAE AND WORLD MUSIC AWARDS (IRAWMA),

POS, Trinidad - Friday March 18, 2011 – The International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) is about to make a significant Milestone in the history of Caribbean and World Music, as the only Music Awards  to acknowledge and give accolades to world music entertainers for thirty years. Martin’s International and Associates, today in a in a special ceremony at the House of Angostura in Port of Spain, Trinidad revealed to the world the 2010 nominees in the 30^th IRAWMA anniversary Awards Ceremony carded to take place in Trinidad in May.

Topping the list is Reggae music sensation Gyptian who is nominated in eight categories; followed by Trinidad and Tobago King of Soca, and recent winner of the Soca Monarch and Road March titles, Machel Montano who is nominated in seven categories. Also copping seven nods is Damian Marley, who toured extensively with US Rapper Nas. Reggae rhythm tag teamSly and Robbie received six nominations, while Vybz Kartel gained five. Other multiple nominees, includes: Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, I-Octane, JW and Blaze, Queen Ifrika, Shaggy, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Roy Cape, Romain Virgo, Tarrus Riley, Third World, Pitbull, Gramps Morgan, Kernel Roberts and Marcia Griffiths, among others. 
 
The B-Mobile and Angostura sponsored 30^th IRAWMA will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the National Academy of the Performing Arts (NAPA), in Port of Spain, Trinidad, visit www.irawma.com. The following day, Sunday, May 29, a grand concert celebration of the nominees and winners will take place at the Queens Park Savannah entitled “Reggae Meets Soca/Chutney”.
 
The prestigious awards extravaganza on May 28^th at NAPA will feature indoor and outdoor stages, with massive video screens to allow patrons to view the action inside and outside. The location’s brilliantly transformed exterior will offer a platform where patrons can socialize, dance and party during the celebration and after the conclusion of the IRAWMA grand finale.  On Saturday May 28^th 2011 IRAWMA will ignite the party capital of Port-Of-Spain. The awards ceremony and concert will officially begin at 8:00pm, however, media, regular VIP and general ticketholders can gain entry to the venue from 5:30pm. At 6:00pm the Red Carpet will be rolled out for VIP Platinum/V.VIP ticket holders and at 7:00pm the celebrities, nominees and special awardees will walk the Red Carpet. 

IRAWMA goes beyond the realm of simply awarding and acknowledging Reggae/Jamaican music. The celebrated ceremony also continues to recognize our wealth of regional (Caribbean) talent as evidenced by this year’s supreme stock of nominees comprising individuals and acts which represent the Caribbean, African and Latin American Diaspora. 

Most notably, this year more than thirty of the nominated entertainers/groups are from Trinidad and Tobago. T&T’s own Machel Montano who has walked away with top honours in the last three IRAWMA celebrations in New York is one of the top nominees for this 30^th IRAWMA anniversary.  2011 also marks the addition of a new category for “Chutney” music. In this category the public votes internationally combined by the B-Mobile text to vote will determine the Chutney winner.

Special Awards: The IRAWMA Hall of Fame/Lifetime Inductees are:Mr. Joe Trouillot (Haiti). Cuban singer Silvio Rodriguez (Cuba), Earl “Chinna” Smith (Jamaica),Hon. Winston “Gypsy” Peters (T&T) and Isidore “Mighty Dow” York (St. Maarten).  The Martin’s International Awards of Honor will be awarded to: Jamaican/American actressSheryl Lee Ralph, Trinidadian comedian Dennis “Sprangalang” Hall and Jamaican radio stationIrie FM. Other special Awardees in this category will be announced later.
