The 7th Annual Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards

The seventh annual staging of the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards is set to take place on March 12 2011. Founder and chairman Richard 'Richie B' Burgess, notes that due to the event's growth as well as the support it has received from the local music and entertainment industry, it will be moving to the East Lawns of the historical Devon House in Kingston. Burgess, has declared that he and his team will deliver a "mind blowing experience" this year. Indeed, the EMEs have grown into a big deal, with over 90% of its awardees generally in attendance and a number of top local stars jockeying for performance slots. The red carpet entry is the most spectacular of its kind in the region, adding credence to the fact that the EMEs are often referred to as the 'Jamaican Grammys.' Last year, the event rose to new heights with coverage by North America's BET Networks. Their coverage posted at their website received thousands of hits. Multiple Grammy award-winning artiste India.Arie was in attendance both as a performer and as The International Friend of Reggae Honoree.

This year's staging will be a night filled with glitz and glamour in addition to a lot of international attention. The 2011 International Friend of Reggae Honoree will be popular American rapper, songwriter, model and businesswoman, Trina. On her latest album, Amazin', she collaborated with Jamaica's very own Lady Saw and Trinidadian-American sensation, Nicki Minaj, on a song titled, Dang A Lang. The Icons Honorees for this year have not yet been named but veterans honoured in this category before include the likes of the late Sonia Pottinger, King Jammys, Freddie McGregor, Toots Hibbert and Denroy Morgan. Several new categories will be added to the proceedings this year, including Artiste of the Decade (2001 to 2010) for both males and females. Some local and overseas celebrities will be on duty to present premier awards and many others will be showing their support. The EMEs have previously received endorsements from bigwigs such as Akon, John Legend, Missy Elliot, Jasmin Sullivan and Estelle.

JAMAICA'S FINEST "THE NITE TRAXX MOBILE SOUND SYSTEM"

        NITE TRAXX MOBILE SOUND SYSTEM

The brainchild of Dennis Campbell, was built and mobilized in 1994. Nite Traxx sound started as a competition sound system in the car stereo arena and went on to win over 60 trophies island-wide. We have won at all the Islands major competitions including National Arena, Ranny Williams Entertainment Center and Market Place. Nite Traxx can be credited with introduction and distribution of products from major brands such as JL Audio, Hifonics and Cascade Power Source to Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean.

After being in these car stereo competitions for many many years Mr. Campbell decided to move on to bigger things and make this into a more profitable business. In 1999 Nite Traxx Sound system was transformed into a masterpiece, when Mr. Campbell purchased a 1999 Ford F350 V10 Triton Truck, modified it with camper and all and acquired the services of Arthur Fearon (Junior) out of Miami, Florida to rebuild a massive sound system that  was the envy of everyone who came in contact  with it. (Mr. Fearon was the original technician who built the first system in 1994 in a 1989 Ford F350 truck.)

With the sound system also came the Nite Traxx Sky Lighting on December 31, 1999. This became a major phenomenon and many people thought it was the end of the world. At night  the 64 beams can be seen from more than 10 miles away.  This made Nite Traxx a cut above the rest because you were able to easily identify where the Nite traxx Party was located. In 2007,  Mr. Campbell decided to take a break and that was when  the system went out of operation.  In December 2010, after eight long months of carefully drafting and brainstorming, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Fearon rebuilt Nite Traxx and made it into something even more unimaginable than before.  At present,  Nite Traxx is the World’s Largest and the World’s most wanted mobile sound system,  at its peak playing on approximately 30,000 watts. We are available for any major events including Brand Promotion Campaign, Carnivals, Festivals, Parties, Dances, Family Fun Days etc.

IN HONOR OF ROBERT NESTA MARLEY, CELEBRATION OF LIFE & MUSIC!

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

Bob's story is that of an archetype, which is why it continues to have such a powerful and ever-growing resonance: it embodies political repression, metaphysical and artistic insights, gangland warfare and various periods of mystical wilderness. And his audience continues to widen: to westerners Bob's apocalyptic truths prove inspirational and life-changing; in the Third World his impact goes much further. Not just among Jamaicans, but also the Hopi Indians of New Mexico and the Maoris of New Zealand, in Indonesia and India, and especially in those parts of West Africa from which slaves were plucked and taken to the New World, Bob is seen as a redeemer figure returning to lead this.

In the clear Jamaican sunlight you can pick out the component parts of which the myth of Bob Marley is comprised: the sadness, the love, the understanding, the Godgiven talent. Those are facts. And although it is sometimes said that there are no facts in Jamaica, there is one more thing of which we can be certain: Bob Marley never wrote a bad song. He left behind the most remarkable body of recorded work. "The reservoir of music he has left behind is like an encyclopedia," says Judy Mowatt of the I-Threes. "When you need to refer to a certain situation or crisis, there will always be a Bob Marley song that will relate to it. Bob was a musical prophet."

The tiny Third World country of Jamaica has produced an artist who has transcended all categories, classes, and creeds through a combination of innate modesty and profound wisdom. Bob Marley, the Natural Mystic, may yet prove to be the most significant musical artist of the twentieth century.Bob Marley gave the world brilliant and evocative music; his work stretched across nearly two decades and yet still remains timeless and universal. Bob Marley & the Wailers worked their way into the very fabric of our lives."He's taken his place alongside James Brown and Sly Stone as a pervasive influence on R & B", says the American critic Timothy White, author of the acclaimed Bob Marley biography CATCH A FIRE: THE LIFE OF BOB MARLEY. "His music was pure rock, in the sense that it was a public expression of a private truth. "It is important to consider the roots of this legend: the first superstar from the Third World, Bob Marley was one of the most charismatic and challenging performers of our time and his music could have been created from only one source: the street culture of Jamaica.
