NEW KINGSTON HONORS BOB MARLEY AT SULLIVAN HALL, NEW YORK.

Honoring the Birth, Musical Genius and Inspiration of Bob Marley Sunday, February 6, 2011 New York, NY - Sunday, February 6, marks what would have been the 66th birthday of the most prolific and beloved figure in reggae music, the legendary Bob Marley, whose music and life struggle against oppression and injustice has inspired millions of fans worldwide. Marley died in 1981, however 30 years later, his influence is still resonating in a new generation of musicians and fans. In an event that is sure to bring a refreshing twist, yet reminiscent of days of Marley and the Wailers, New York’s famed Sullivan Hall (formally Lion’s Den) is back with Reggae Sundays and kicks it off by bringing to it’s stage a host of New York‘s finest reggae talent to channel the celebrated Marley in honor of his birthday on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 8pm. The show, New Kingston and Friends, a Night of Marley Magic, will be headlined by rising young artist, New Kingston, who will perform a host of Marley hits, as well as songs from their new album In The Streets, accompanied by Jamaican session guitarist, Andy Bassford, who played and recorded with Marley and other greats such as Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sly & Robbie, Toots and the Maytals; Broadway’s Lion Kingdrummer, Jr. Gabu Wedderburn; and Lady Alexis (Leon & The Peoples) plus special surprise guests adding their names to the roster. New Kingston has been labeled “the band to look out for” and is nothing short of amazing.
