The Bob Marley One Love Celebrity Football Match was established in 1982 and has since become a feature of the celebration of Black History Month and the life of our Reggae Ambassador, Bob Marley.
Last year, the “Celebolympics” track and field element of the event was introduced to increase the entertainment value of the event. These events featured a male and female corporate 100m dash, a female entertainers 100m dash, a media 100m dash, and a promoters 4 x 100m dash. Chris Vendreyes of NCB won the inaugural Corporate Male 100m dash, Entertainer Denyque won the female 100m dash, Ricardo Chambers of KLAS won the Media 100m dash, while Tanya Lee of Sports Max won the Corporate Female 100m dash.
Speaking on the choice of the National Stadium East as the venue, Deane Shepherd of Blueprint Consulting emphasized that “The staging of this event at the National Stadium East will allow our sponsors and charities to benefit from this event on a larger scale, by being able to execute more creative and innovative branding, while interacting with a larger number of patrons”. Shepherd continues “While this is a charity, we have had to find ways to make the overall activity more exciting and entertaining, as sponsors need to see the value of their marketing dollar”. “Some of these elements will include Half line kicking challenges, Juggling contests and more”.
