Places to travel: "Glistening Water's" Trelawny, Jamaica.

The Luminous Lagoon is home to a phosphorescent phenomenon that can only be seen in "three" places around the world. Situated in the Montego Bay area, the lagoon glistens and turns neon-green at night. This is due to the presence of rare phosphorescent microbes called dinoflagellates, which change the water's color when they move. Visitors can take bamboo raft trips on the lagoon during the day and night. Raft operators allow guests to get out to swim or wade in the shallow sections. The lagoon is also home to the Glistening Waters Restaurant. Located in the Parish of Trelawny, outside of Montego Bay, is the Black River.  Where the river meets the sea and mixes into brackish water, is the Luminous Lagoon.

This lagoon, surrounded by mangrove trees, is home to microscopic organisms that emit a phosphorescent light when the water is agitated. The boats take you into the lagoon at dusk.  As the water is disturbed, you'll see an eerie light illuminating the waters. Then you get th e chance to wave your hands in the water to make the water glow in the dark. The tour operator will give you a chance to swim in the water as well.  Do not pass up this opportunity! Trust me I did....  There are only "three" places in the world that have this phenomenon including (Puerto Rico & Indonesia).  Apparently Jamaica's is the best, in my opinion!  There are plans in motion for another Spanish owned super hotel to be built on the peninsula, which is currently jungle.  There are also plans to build a docking pier/wharf for popular cruise ships. This biological, natural phenomenon experience is with a doubt, Magnificent! Visit here soon....
